This seaside community boasts 2.5 kilometers of beachfront promenade and a heritage pier. Many houses are built on the hillside, affording stunning ocean views out to the San Juan and Gulf Islands. White Rock has a full range of amenities, including Semiahmoo Mall, the shops and restaurants of bustling Johnston Road and Marine Drive, and beautiful parks with plenty of hillside walking trails – all within 5 minutes of the US border and Washington State.
Originally a farming community, Hazelmere has evolved into a quiet, upscale neighbourhood with larger properties and some farms and acreages, as well as newer developments. It is home to Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club, which boasts some of the best tennis facilities in the Lower Mainland. Horse culture is alive and well here, with many parks and trails. Despite increased development around Campbell Valley, the area retains its quaint rural feel.
This quiet beachside community used to be a vacation destination for Vancouverites but is now home to some 1,200 permanent residents. Many character homes are found here, along with some of the area’s original summer cottages, many affording views of the North Shore Mountains, Gulf Islands, and Boundary or Mud Bay. The waterfront promenade and beach are the backdrop for endless summertime fun, like the famous Crescent Beach Swim Club.
On the westernmost point of the Semiahmoo Peninsula, Ocean Park has retained its unique small town feel and exudes a sense of community and friendliness not often found in newer areas. Community events like Ocean Park Days and outdoor movie nights epitomise what makes the area different. You’ll find mostly single-family homes here, including some stunning clifftop ocean-view estates. There are also plenty of small locally owned businesses.
Grandview has undergone a huge transformation in recent years, with significant new retail, business and residential developments springing up. Homes here range from loft-style condos and high-end townhomes to single-family homes and larger acreages. Shopping and other activities are never far away with the shops at Grandview Corners and Morgan Crossing, as well as the nearby beaches and the brand new Aquatic Centre with world-class diving facilities. A new high school is being built and there is also the prestigious Southridge School, a private K to 12 university prep school.
With the nationally recognized Morgan Creek Golf Course at its heart and several unique master-planned residential communities, this highly desirable place has something of a holiday destination feel to it. The area boasts immaculate public spaces and boulevards, with many upscale homes on sizeable lots, as well as townhomes and condominiums. Many neighbourhoods are dotted with walking paths and playgrounds and all are in close proximity to a myriad of shopping and dining options.
Elgin / Chantrell
The Elgin/Chantrell area is one of the most desirable on the peninsula. There are many newer master-planned developments in addition to well established single-family homes and expansive waterfront estates, often backing onto public reserves. Recreational opportunities abound, with golf courses, parks, and beaches all nearby. The 128-acre Crescent Park offers walking trails through mature second-growth forests with ponds, streams and more. Bustling shopping areas are also close at hand.
This former logging community offers an eclectic mix of newer and older homes and townhomes. Two major shopping areas, Peninsula Village and Southpoint, are within walking distance. The area’s namesake park has an outdoor swimming pool, an extensive trail network for walking and riding, and many other outdoor sporting facilities. Easy access to shopping, golf courses and Highway 99 make this a convenient location.
King George Corridor
This rapidly developing area includes several new planned residential communities as well as older sections with single-family homes. Close to both Crescent Beach and White Rock Beach, the King George Corridor provides easy access to shops, restaurants, recreation and public transit. Proximity to Highway 99 makes it easy to travel to Vancouver or reach the US border.
An area traditionally known for its rural properties including horse and tree farms, Pacific Douglas has seen increasing development in recent years. The addition of restaurants and retail spaces has come with the growth of the Summerfield neighbourhood, which offers a mix of townhomes and single-family homes. Many of these boast greenbelt views. Two golf courses, well-spaced lots and many trees add to a distinctly rural feel here.
